Ashfield is currently recruiting for a Commercial Account Manager, covering  Northern England & Scotland, on behalf of our client, a specialist Ophthalmology company with a wide portfolio of products and devices across Europe. The commercial account manager will work with independent optician’s accounts, optician group accounts building, and developing customer accounts within their defined territory.


Key Responsibilities

  • The role of the Commercial Account Manager (CAM) is to promote our clients portfolio of products.
  • To promote products in a manner consistent with ethical standards of the company and ensure to meet any other local codes of conduct with regards to pharmaceutical products or medical devices.
  • Establish and enhance the reputation of our Client as a scientific pharmaceutical organisation and partner of choice for optometrists and any other associated healthcare professionals who have a role in treating relevant diseases.  
  • Increase awareness of promoted products with designated healthcare professionals, and increase their knowledge of the product properties and application in the treatment of relevant diseases, by regularly contacting and personally visiting them.
  • Building good relationships with designated business (for example - optician owners/optoms and practice managers and practice staff).
  • Achieve sales targets by developing, implementing, and monitoring account plans.
  • Identify any gaps in the market place and in customer accounts and help develop the customer account and establishing themselves as the number one business partner.
  • Feedback on success and recommend to the internal marketing/leadership team a roadmap for ongoing sales success.
  • Maintaining a flexible attitude to the opportunities identified by the company based on the growing ophthalmic product portfolio.

Key Requirements

  • Proven record of accomplishment within the optical industry a minimum of 2 years. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the field and independent opticians and optician groups.
  • Have established and positive relationships with optical accounts 
  • Experience in new product launches
  • Experience in cold calling with customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed presentation skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and owner opticians and optoms.
  • Languages: fluency in the local Language and English spoken and written, is a must.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Experience in providing reports daily and weekly.
  • Extensive knowledge on journey planning to maximise account calls.
