Ashfield Healthcare are proud to be working with Portola to recruit a National Sales Manager. The successful candidate will manage and motivate a team of Key Account Managers across the UK (except Scotland).  The National Sales Manager will deliver commercial targets in line with the company strategy.  The National Sales Manager will contribute to the development of a robust Sales Plan to manage the Portola product portfolio.  They will ensure effective in-country tactical implementation of key account plans to support rapid and effective growth for the business.  They will also have sales responsibility for 1 – 2 Key Accounts. (This is a guide and may vary slightly) 

Key Responsibilities

• To achieve National sales, market share and profit targets in each respective country markets.

• To identify, construct, implement and monitor all usual salesforce management processes.

• To work with and support the Marketing Department / Senior Management in the Company’s Overall Objectives

• To agree and track performance of business plan objectives for the Key Account Managers that underpins the achievement of the overall EU countries target, and to work closely with   internal stakeholders to decide on best practice.

• Responsible for the successful recruitment and induction of direct reports.

• Line management for the Key Account Management team providing clear direction and objectives of direct reports. 

• To conduct regular performance reviews, documenting outcomes and providing evidence, through field visits and other development processes.

• To complete the annual appraisals of direct reports.

• To hold regular team meetings that update, develop and motivate the team.

• To oversee and participate in key customer operational relationships ensuring that business objectives are met.

• Work within the constraints of the appropriate local country Code of Practice and Company Policies and Procedures. 

• To continually demonstrate and encourage within the team, behaviours in line with the Company’s Vision and Values.

• To fully utilise the CRM system to effectively direct and monitor the team’s performance.

• To ensure direct reports utilise the CRM system and comply with other company reporting requirements as well as themselves for their own 1 – 2 Key Accounts ( this may vary ) 

Essential Skills 

• English language capability

• Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience

• 5 years plus successful line management experience within the pharma industry

• Ideally 3 year plus experience Managing Hospital sales teams with success in  secondary care formulary gains

• Evidence of delivering results through effective line management

• Evidence of delivering results in a multi stakeholder model

• Successful experience / understanding of local country healthcare structure for prescribing, reimbursement, funding, formulary processes and policies as they affect product portfolio

• Experience of Key Opinion Leader development

• Strong IT skills especially MS Office
