Ashfield Healthcare are pleased to be recruiting a National Field Training manager to coach and motivate an experienced team of Ophthalmology Key Account Managers. 

Our client are a specialised pharmaceutical company engaged exclusively in the field of ophthalmology.  They have a long tradition of success, established 125 years ago and the No 1 Ophthalmology company in many of the markets that it operates e.g. Japan with 47% market share of the total Ophthalmology market. They decided to significantly expand its geographical presence to become a global player and has set up new affiliates across Europe and Asia and is now operating in more than 50 markets globally. They have the goal to become one of the top Ophthalmology companies globally. They have a broad range of Ophthalmology products covering glaucoma, dry eye disease and ocular infections. They have a leading pipeline of innovative products that address unmet medical need across a broad range of Ophthalmology conditions.

Key Responsibilities ( but not limited to ) 


• Partner with line leaders to provide continuous development thru the job and coaching to the teams in field (approximately 80% available time)

• Develop yearly Training Needs Analysis, and propose Learning agenda for the year to the leadership team and responsible to execute the agreed plan

• Coach in-field the Insights ‘colours’ profiling model to support customer engagement and to maximise in-call effectiveness

• Support and coach field based sales people on implementation of their business plans

• Train product and competitor knowledge in line with the promotional brand strategies via different channels (face to face; webinars; e-learnings…)

• Share best practice within the team and give appropriate feedback to individuals and Senior Managers

• Coach the field skills necessary to deliver sales and Plan of Action targets

• Manage training records for field based employees

• Ensure that the company’s in-field policies and standard operating procedures are adhered to

• Accelerate talent development thru functional and leadership competencies for UK & Ireland to support career development (incl Sales Development Centre)

• Help embed the SLCs through workshops and high quality development plan monitoring.

• Work with EMEA trainer on the roll out of SESM2 ( to be explained ) and propose pan EMEA capability development initiatives

• Facilitate induction programs for new starters across the functions using the EMEA training materials / LMS portal and Success Factors

• Train and coach new line managers on first line management effective practices


To be considered for the assessment day, please find below the relevant experience and criteria required:

• ABPI Qualified.

• Field Training experience in Pharma and secondary care level. 

• Good knowledge of NHS structures and environment 

• Experience of working in secondary care and at a key account manager level

• Exceptional coaching skills demonstrated through current mentoring roles

• Successful sales/key performance indicators record
