Ashfield currently has the pleasure of working with Urgo to recruit a Clinical Specialist covering the South West. Urgo Medical is the advanced wound healing division of the URGO Group.  Because serious wounds constitute a significant source of suffering all over the world, our mission as ‘Healing Company’, is to relieve and cure patients by providing them with the most appropriate dressings and treatment protocols. This role involves servicing Urgo’s existing compression business and providing value added training to less established compression customers


Key Responsibilities-

  • To function within national and regional business plans utilising clinical expertise to enhance the reputation of Urgo within the wound care market and increase market share.
  • To co-ordinate and assist in the development and the management of product evaluations and clinical case studies across the United Kingdom.
  •  To support launch of new product ranges where appropriate.
  • To produce and publish clinical posters, case studies and articles in peer reviewed journals that will support dissemination of findings from product evaluations, clinical studies and clinician/patient experiences of Urgo products.
  • To support educational and commercial activities at a local and regional level by delivering added value activities including bespoke study events.
  • To assist with local/regional/national exhibitions, conferences, and study events, and promoting the role of the clinical specialist as a value-added service.
  • To contribute towards regional sales and development plans by utilising clinical knowledge and expertise to drive activities and engagement of local and regional key opinion leaders.
  • To be an active participant in matrix team working and contribute towards business plans and key projects which will support success of the regional and national business objectives.
  • To support internal training department to share and develop clinical knowledge and expertise that supports the Urgo product portfolio.
  • Support Urgo marketing teams to develop initiatives and tools which support product development and promotion for the purpose of internal and external customers. To identify and secure an appropriate honorary contract within a clinical practice area to maintain clinical credibility, competence and expertise and drive business growth. (within the first 6 months of recruitment).



Key Skills –

  • Has the ability to use clinical credibility to establish trust and develop mutual respect with customers and matrix team members                                                               
  •  Actively promotes internal clinical standards supporting/coaching the regional CT                                                     
  • Requires minimal guidance to produce academically sound clinical credible publications/posters that promote the clinical efficacy of the Urgo Portfolio of products.
  •    Adapts and personalises key messages accordingly
  • Comfortably discusses product differentiation with knowledge of the key messages
  •  Proactively reviews regularly their KPIs to ensure they are met.
  •  Interprets their KPIs with their field knowledge and uses them to diagnose the current situation to create their business plan
  •  Understands patient pathways in the account                          
  • Able to identify local policies and drivers of change across the organisation                                                                    
  •  Uses NHS knowledge specific to the trust to develop strategic action plan to support Urgo and customer objective   Has a broad understanding of current clinical practice and how this differs regionally/nationally                                                        
  • Actively keeps self up to date with current best practice recommendations/guidance/policy in all areas of wound care and is able to apply this knowledge to develop a local projects/ pathway of care
