Ashfield is currently recruiting for a Deal Desk Senior Contracts Manager on behalf of our Client, Pacira. The US based pain management company are now launching into Europe so this is a great opportunity for someone to join at a pivotal point and be part of this exciting expansion. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading pricing, contracting, and operations for iovera & EXPAREL. In collaboration with team Europe, the role develops and implements processes and infrastructure to govern how decisions are made related to the Deal Desk, as well as collaborating with marketing to develop iovera & EXPAREL commercial strategy based on insights gathered from the business. The role will function as the Deal Desk Lead and may also be involved in a wide variety of initiatives, including but not limited to data analysis, performance reporting, and interacting regularly through meetings and in person with the iovera & EXPAREL field team.   Senior Contracts Manager will also work closely with the RD and GM of Europe providing support for Veeva, congress meeting and other commercial administrative tasks as needed.


  • Lead the iovera Deal Desk to ensure timely and effective decision making in support of iovera and our field success
  • Work with Deal Desk team to enable rapid turnaround on Pricing, Customer Activation, Out-of-warranty issues, Pricing Algorithm Review, Evaluation Pricing and Agreements
  • Triage incoming issues for Deal Desk team and facilitate team members for input when/where needed through direct communication and suggestions and debate issue resolution
  • Recommend pricing and contracting strategy and criteria to assess deal terms for the iovera & EXPAREL customer base and leverage insights to drive decisions that are outside policy to approval
  • Support awareness of the product in target Group Purchasing Organisations (GPOs). This should include listing at key GPOs and hospital corporations, price negotiations and appropriate stocking of iovera & EXPAREL.
  • Collate and support tendering processes and materials for KAMs and understand requirements and action timelines for competitive tenders in target countries
  • Leverage business insights to develop and drive iovera & EXPAREL commercial strategy and work with commercial team to ensure resources are equipped to execute against the strategic plan
  • Maintain log of incoming requests, including, but not limited to; New account activations Evaluation kit requests, and Demo kit replenishment to ensure timely outcomes and track outcome resolution
  • Communicate with KAMs through regular touchpoints to specifically understand business operations, best practices, and challenges
  • Collect, analyze, and leverage analytics and insights from the field to recommend advancement of our business, including through developing sales optimization strategy, marketing strategy, and market access strategy.
  • Provide regular performance reports to company leadership to understand trends and inform strategic decision making
  • Create tools and resources and continually seek to enhance and streamline processes to support iovera & EXPAREL business requirements
  • Work periodically with KAMs in field and meet with customers to further enhance understanding of the business in order to optimize our commercial strategy
  • Support optimizations of Pacira’s field technology platforms, e.g. Veeva
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with e.g. Marketing, Sales, L&D, Finance, Sales Ops, Market Access, and Trade to develop and drive strategy and make sound business decisions related to how we execute on iovera strategy
  • Planning and support for local, regional and National conferences
  • Up to 10% travel required.

Education and Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Finance, Business, or Operations or closely related field from accredited college or university.

·       Minimum 10 years of relevant sales/marketing or pricing/ contracting experience in life sciences industry.


·       Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities and meet deadlines.

·       Demonstrated success in the development and execution of strategies to respond to unique or challenging market dynamics.

·       Ability to think critically and make informed business decisions to resolve issues with a diverse array of inputs.

·       Ability to influence personnel without direct reporting structure to drive team to a decision.

·       Strong ability to understand market trends, financial data, customer needs, and assess competitive intelligence data.

·       Excellent written and oral English communications skills and presentation skills to diverse groups of all sizes.

·       Proven ability to interact successfully with all levels of the organization as well as vendors and outside constituents.

·       Demonstrated ability to leverage insights to identify and evaluate creative ideas, focusing on those that will create sustainable market advantage.

·       Demonstrated strong attention to detail.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and creation of reference databases are essential
