As part of the expansion, Amarin has a unique opportunity for a highly successful individual passionate about building companies & teams to join as their UK General Manager, being responsible for creating and successfully executing a comprehensive commercial plan across UK and supporting Europe for the successful launch and growth of Amarin. 

The GM will be responsible for the overall UK business with full P&L responsibility. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of working in complex environments and has had to prove his ability in not only managing product launches but also in establishing both corporate and brand identity/awareness across UK. He/she will be acting as a strong leader with a creative “hands-on” approach to provide best in class results. It is preferred that he/she has launched products in one of following TA in the past: Cardiovascular disease or Cardio Metabolic. (Not essential) 

He/she will be a dynamic, decisive executive with effective leadership and management skills who can motivate, develop and lead the salesforce while creating close collaborative partnership with Medical Affairs, Compliance, Marketing, Market Access and Reimbursement, and third party suppliers of commercial teams to achieve desired results through clear direction, active communication, coaching and the creation of a shared vision. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, implementation & management of all country operations for Amarin and ensure that revenue and profit targets are met
  • Provide both strategic and hand-on leadership for the UK
  • Spearhead the market access and reimbursement process in UK with close collaboration with the Market Access team regionally, while building his/her local market access team.
  • Represent Amarin externally in UK and act as the voice of our company in all local Policy setting environments.
  • Execute an Omni-Channel approach to drive Amarin awareness & rapid product growth in the Country
  • Build, lead and develop a sales force, to assure that appropriate levels of talent are positioned to execute Amarin’s business plans
  • Development of business strategies and identification of key business performance indicators
  • Provides insights, planning and implementing local strategies and materials and leading localization process
  • Responsible for overall in-country Operational Excellence
  • Strong collaboration with other European leadership functions such as Marketing, Medical Affairs, Sales, Compliance, HR and Operational Excellence

Functional Responsibilities 

Leadership

  • Effectively set and communicate Amarin’s vision and goals for UK.
  • Communicate effectively and possess the ability to influence and inspire towards the accomplishment of aspirational goals
  • Decisive with active problem solving & hands on mentality to resolve obstacles with his/her team and external teams alike, and ensure timelines are met
  • Ability to coach and mentor his organization with best practice approaches in order to become most efficient and successful team in Cardiovascular disease/Cardio Metabolic in UK
  • Drive for building relationships and networks internally and externally in order to assure a professional working environment 
  • Learning capacity and ability to challenge the status quo continuously to identify and adjust towards improvement

Commercialization

  • Ability to build, train and develop sales large scale organizations in order to achieve country related and with broader management defined sales targets
  • Full P&L responsibility including regularly reporting to SVP & commercial head for Europe.
  • Potential to partnering with relevant stakeholders in UK to promote and increase the brand awareness from a startup stage
  • Ensure that agreed targets are met and if required strategic adjustments to achieve target

Business launch

  • Aptitude to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment with multiple functions
  • Combines an understanding of Market Access and the legal UK framework as well as on Cardiovascular/Cardio Metabolic in order to define best go to market strategy in collaboration with broader MA team 
  • Ability to work with the broader senior management team in order to setup the operational/strategic business plan for the UK
  • Talent to maintain a helicopter view in order to set priorities and support the successful launch 
  • Potential to gain consistent access & develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers in community and academic centers

Experience
 
  • The individual has had a progressive career within the Pharmaceutical and ideally Biotech industry
  • 10+years rs Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical commercial and sales experience, in the UK
  • Managing an organization of 100+ employees
  • Demonstrated track record of successful product launch experience and growth 
  • Launch experience in one of the following Therapeutic Areas: Cardiovascular or Cardio Metabolic

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • MBA (desirable)
