Your new project


Ashfield Engage is recruiting a Field Medical Science Liaison, that will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs, neurology and psychiatry area), other healthcare providers (HCPs), payers and researchers by conducting scientific exchange on products, pipeline and disease state. The MSL will also participate in medical events and congress activities, communicate insights to internal/client Medical Affairs and Clinical Development teams, and support internal/client collaborations as needed.


Your new role


Depending on program specifics, responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Leads efforts in recognizing, identifying, cultivating, and integrating KOL relationships in specific therapeutic areas of interest. Identifies opportunities for scientific growth and generation of medical evidence in support and/or expansion of current utilization of therapies and execution of mutual interest initiatives such as research and continuing medical education;
  • Identifies, develops and manages KOL relationships on a continuum of advocacy in support of company objectives and enhancing client reputation as a scientifically-innovative industry partner;
  • Acquires and maintains a level of medical-scientific knowledge in an assigned therapeutic area(s) and/or disease state(s) involving clinical issues related to products;
  • Able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/ clinical data and evaluates current and new information as it applies to therapies;
  • Contributes to periodic updates of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and responses to standard response letters (SRL) in a fair and balanced manner;
  • Tactical delivery of programs according to established objectives and serves as a resource for education and dissemination of pertinent, clear, and balanced medical-scientific information to internal audiences (Marketing, Medical Affairs, Business Development) and external audiences (healthcare professionals, consumers, patient organizations, etc.);
  • Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with KOLs, HCPs, payers and researchers;
  • Conduct appropriate scientific exchange on disease state, marketed products and pipeline compounds to support client’s Medical Strategy;
  • Respond to specific unsolicited requests for data, and for research opportunities;
  • Participate in medical events, advisory boards and congress activities;
  • Support Medical Affairs and the Company by collecting clinical, research and competitive insights;
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs for Company Sponsored and Investigator Sponsored Trials;
  • Serve as a therapeutics expert for collaborative projects with internal matrix teams;
  • Complete administrative and reporting requirements in a timely manner;
  • Adhere to all company and client policies and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Must safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality by following the guidelines set forth in the Privacy and Security Rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA);
  • Perform other duties as requested.


What we are looking for


  • Advanced scientific degree (Pharm D, Ph.D., MD, RN, or equivalent experience);
  • Experience in the MSL role (neurology and psychiatry area);
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Exceptional presentation skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Positive attitude;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to work cross-functionally;
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 70%;
  • Valid Driver’s license;
  • Working knowledge of virtual presentation platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
